Retailers including Walmart, Wegmans, Publix reported that they sold Tyson’s recalled chicken products possessing Listeria contamination. The recall comprised of Tysons freshly prepared frozen foods and privately branded products including Jet’s Pizza, Casey’s General Store, Marco’s Pizza and Little Caesars. As it was a holiday weekend, more retailers started posting recall notices on their respected websites.
The USDA classified the report as ‘Class I’ recall and quoted that it is “a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued food safety alert stating that the products which were shipped nationwide to various retailers including restaurants, schools, hospitals, can be linked to listeria outbreak.
USDA remarked that customers should avoid consuming the products or throw it away. CDS orders these retailers to not sell the recalled products.
