The Mikel Coffee Company believes that the international branded coffee chain industry will emerge stronger because of creative and innovative competition, which will bring out the best in each brand. On the other hand, the restaurant business is not looking as lucrative as it once was and anyone investing in it should heed caution and be prepared for potential profitability difficulties.

How necessary do you think it is to align a franchising business with modern technological developments when it comes to adapting to the evolving customer needs and preferences?

It is vital; we have automated a lot of our customer interaction in terms of payments and at the same time improved our delivery presence while still maintaining that personal hospitality sense towards them.

Our customers demand highest ever quality products from us, as a result, we always strive to meet their expectations, which more times than not we tend to surpass. But we still believe in the value of the human touch in our expert baristas, which keep our loyal customers coming back for more.

In your opinion, what could be the future of the restaurants and food servicing industry?

The future is looking gloomy currently, but we remain hopeful for improvements in the current pandemic situation to return to normal and aid the F&B industry to return to its pre-pandemic levels of profitability.

As an established business leader, what would be your advice to the budding entrepreneurs aspiring to venture into the restaurants and food servicing industry?

Enter the restaurants and food servicing industry with great caution due to the current economic and pandemic climate.

How do you envision sustaining your company’s competency in 2021?

We are rapidly expanding internationally to numerous new markets and continents. Currently, we have more than 300 stores of which, over 50 are international and the rest are in Greece. Our aim is to bring to the entire world the gift of the best specialty coffee and products along with our love for what we do with a touch of true Greek hospitality called Mikel.
