Industry Trends to Watch in 2022

Trends come and go, and that is also true for trends within the gambling industry. Given the constant evolution of technology, many of the online gambling market’s trend cycles are relatively short, while some emerge over a longer period.

The casino industry is bigger than ever, and the demand for well-functioning websites and entertaining games is increasing. Software developers are putting even more effort into launching new trends that they hope will revolutionise the industry.

The first half of 2022 has already passed, and we have seen several trends dominating the market. Which ones will persist, and which ones should you keep an eye on for the rest of 2022?

Mobile-friendly casinos

Most major gambling companies, like the online casino Casumo, have been enabling their customers to be entertained through small screens, with entertaining slots and other classic casino games for years. However, it has recently become increasingly common for casinos to be designed to be played primarily on smartphones.

Almost all new online casinos are well adapted for mobile use. Some of them could even be said to be more optimised for smartphones than for PC’s. As new smartphones are constantly being launched and advanced, this is most likely a trend that will continue. Mobile-friendly casinos will only become more common as technology improves.

Virtual and Augmented Reality

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) have been gaining popularity in the gaming community at large. Not many online casinos have adapted to the trend yet, but the technology is available and VR is predicted to be the next big thing, so, it is probably only a matter of time (and money).

Most of the focus of game developers is on creating VR for live casinos, so that players will be able to enjoy an almost identical experience as at brick-and-mortar casinos. In casino games with VR, players can use various gestures to interact with dealers!

Unfortunately, there are not many VR or AR games just yet. However, hopefully, when we eventually see poker, blackjack and other table games with VR, the trend will likely take the casino world by storm. Because what could be better than being able to combine the convenience of gambling from home with enjoying an incredibly real gaming experience?

Cryptocurrencies

Today, most online casinos are good at offering their player’s many modern options when it comes to deposits and withdrawals. For example, online casinos have generally been early to implement things like various e-wallets, which allow for both fast and secure payments.

It is therefore unsurprising that the casino industry is a market that seems to be keener to accept cryptocurrencies than many other industries. Far from all online casinos accept virtual currencies, but the number who do is growing.

At least we feel it is a trend that is here to stay, not the least as cryptocurrencies become more accepted around the world. However, at the time of writing, cryptocurrencies are not legal in India, which is vital to know as a gambler in India. But who knows? It might change in the future.
