West Bengal is noted for its beautiful infrastructure and some of the country’s most historically significant landmarks. 1. Ghanshyam Sarda 
Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda (Born August 1959 in Calcutta, India) is a Calcutta-based businessman and the founder of the Sarda Group of Industries, which specializes in the jute and information technology industries as well as the Chandrakala Devi Trust, a philanthropic organization.
The Sarda Group of Industries is based in Kolkata and has operations throughout West Bengal. The company currently operates several jute mills that manufacture more than 500 tons of jute goods each day.

Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda began his career as a small Jute merchant and has grown to become one of the leading Jute manufacturers and employers in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, employing over 70,000 people. He has established a conglomerate worth over Rs. 2500 crores with his vision and effort, covering varied companies such as Real Estate, IT/ITES, and the Service Sector.
2. Subrata Roy
Subrata Roy, Chairman and Managing Worker of Sahara India Pariwar, is now possibly the world’s wealthiest Bengali. If stories are to be believed, even he is unaware of the actual size of his fortune! Conservative estimates place the Group’s assets in real estate, media, sports, tourism, cinema, healthcare, and hospitality at about Rs. 130,000 crores (US$ 26 billion).
Almost everything he does is prominently publicized in the media, whether it is his humanitarian endeavors, a fleet of private planes, or hobnobbing with Bollywood celebs. Even during Mayawati’s reign, he was one of Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent figures. He recently paid the highest ($370 million) for the Pune IPL team, purchased a $100 million share in the Force India Formula One team, and financed $150 million to ailing billionaire Vijay Mallya, Chairman of Kingfisher Airlines.
3. Benu Gopal Bangur
Mr. Benu Gopal Bangur is widely considered to be one of the world’s wealthiest Bengalis. Shree Cement is his company, and he is an Indian entrepreneur. Bangur studied at Calcutta University and graduated in 1931. After completing his degree, Benu Gopal took over his family’s firm, which had been in operation since the 1800s.
Bangur comes from a renowned business family in Kolkata, and after a family break in the 1990s, he took the leadership of Shree Cement. His son Hari Mohan Bangur and grandson Prashant now oversee the business. Shree Cement stated in August that all Indian medal winners at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics would receive free cement to build their homes.
4. Anand Burman
Mr. Anand Burman is the chairperson of Dabur, a large consumer goods company, and is of Indian descent. Dabur has been the biggest goods manufacturer in India’s markets for the past three decades. After graduating from the University of Kansas in the United States, Anand joined his family’s business in India. He started working for the company in 1986 and was named chairperson in 2007. Anand received the title of Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011.
In July 2019, he stood down as chairperson of the family business Dabur, India’s fourth-largest consumer goods company, after more than a decade. His fortune is largely derived from his ownership of the Delhi-based company, which produces hair oil, fruit drinks, and health supplements. Amit, his cousin, is now chairperson of Dabur, and Aditya, his son, is the director.
5. Purnendu Chatterjee
Mr. Purnendu Chatterjee is the founder and chairperson of the Indian conglomerate The Chatterjee Group. He is also the executive director of the Hyderabad-based ISB.
After graduation from IIT Kharagpur, he worked as a research associate at Stanford University. The TCG Group today has a presence in a number of fields, including real estate, investment banking, and science. According to the sources, the company employs approximately 8000 individuals in a range of industries.
