Canadian Government to step up to initiate transformative changes for an indigenous community

On Thursday, Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada addressed the injustice that happened towards the indigenous community of Canada. The prime minister along with the Canadian government promises strong actions to drive transformative change.

The government said that more resources would be directed to address systematic racism in the nation’s justice system. The law is also to be enforced to tackle the violence against indigenous women and girls in the country.

The government has also promised to provide more control over some social services and work on improving access to healthcare for the indigenous community. The announcement of the plan came two years after the death of more than 1000 indigenous women and girls happened in past decades.

The government is also set to address the systematic racism among the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which is a national law enforcement agency responsible for policing rural regions in the country.
