193 members of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopts the first global agreement for the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence on Thursday.
According to UNESCO, due to the reliability of AI technology, AI is a significant threat to privacy, dignity and other factors that might be at risk. Also, the technology can increase the threat to humanity as the danger of mass surveillance will always be there if not controlled.
This decision was probably taken because of the unpredictable behaviour of the technology that brought many challenges to basic human rights. UNESCO, along with its members feel the need to regulate, control and construct an infrastructure that will set boundaries to this fast growing self-learning and unpredictable technology.
